Let’s make a work of art!
By Aitana Ferrándiz & Berta Fontboté
This experience is about how a group of people interpret an object previously chosen. In this case, the object chosen is a broken umbrella. The objective of this study is to know the different ways people can see the same object.
In the explanation of what the person sees, maybe, you'll see some of their hidden problems.
What we've done:
First of all we showed the umbrella to some students. Then we asked what they think the broken umbrella means and these are the results we obtained:
''In my opinion this doesn't mean anything.''
''You've lost your hope.''
''Unuseless, without solution.''
''There's a problem in society.''
''Incomplete.''''You feel saved, but are you really saved?
''Powerlessness, it gets out of hand, because it's a thing that you can't control.''
''It's a disease!''
''An empty space in my life.''
''Fragile, disadvantaged with the others.''
Pollock used not to name his paintings, but his friends did it.
When the artist creates work of art, does he always have the intention or the knowledge of what he wants to express?
